With the spring weather coming along (despite today's snow) thoughts turn to being outside, Fire Island, and a key moment of last year, the Invasion. The banner shot is a snip out of a larger picture of Kevin Aviance's opening of last year's Invasion on the pier in the Pines. The juxtaposition of nature and supernature and of severe and casual is fun and the colors just sort of work. Sure, it's totally rushing the season, but why not. Winter has lingered too long and, just maybe, if we set our minds to the warmth of spring and summer we can hasten their arrival.
