It's been a heckuva good time in the past year and I'm really going to miss doing this.
First of all, "HI!" My name is Karen Tauschend. I'm a graduate student in Communications here at the University of Southern Indiana. For my overall project for the graduate program, I've been working on how communication varies between urban and rural communities and between gay and straight communities. In order to do this I chose to take on an identity that is completely opposite of me, a new mom living in a small town outside Evansville, Indiana.
Manhattan Offender is the opposite identity that I chose: a city homosexual. For the pictures I used my uncle Rodney, although a lot of the clothes we had to get at the Goodwill. We even named the site's author after Rodney, but we decided to change the last name and shorten the first because Rod Townsend just sort of sounded more urban and gay.
Final presentation of the project took place in mid-March and my professor was very complimentary, but said that the website wasn't especially believable and that the author seemed inconsistent and immature. Still, he gave me a B and now that I have my graduate's degree I can focus on what I really want to do: be a full-time mom to my beautiful daughter, April (who turns one year old this month!)
After the jump there are some more pictures of me and my daughter and even uncle Rodney.
Um, yeah, April Fools.
