From 365gay:
Two men have [been] charged with sodomy in Fiji despite a high court ruling that the law is unconstitutional. The men were arrested in a beach house near the capital Suva. Police said they caught the men during sex but would not say who tipped them off. The pair were released on bail following a brief court appearance. Last August Fiji's High Court overturned the convictions of two gay men, ruling that the South Pacific island's sodomy law was unconstitutional. The court released Thomas McCoskar, a 55-year-old Australian, and Dhirendra Nadan, a 23-year-old native man, telling McCoskar he was free to leave Fiji and return home. Despite the court ruling the government has refused to repeal the sodomy law which dates back to British imperial rule.
This is disturbing on too many levels. Not repealing the archaic law is bad. Putting a question mark next to one of my "Must Go To Before I Die" places is worse. Depriving me of my daily liter of Fiji water as one can't support one's haters? The worst.
Volvic will keep me alive for a time, so let's hope there is not some horrid bigotry happening in Volvicistan next.
