Róisín Murphy has new releases coming, which is a strange sentence to type. It's strange in that there is no adverb like "finally" or sense of desperation like "at last". Róisín is actually new to me*, thanks to a nerdily early arrival to a party this past spring where the dj's** played Ms. Murphy back-to-back with Moloko (the band for which she vocalizes so well which was also new to me despite having found them on my iTunes the next day). Despite the newness, my craving for more Murphy is strong.
While there has not been news of a new album or single breaking, she did present new music in London this past weekend as well as doing some d-jaying of her own, including new single "Momma's Place".
* - And a favorite also. I used "Ramalama" during the opening credits of The Pride as I find it to be the perfect song for an opening sequence. It's thrown in after "the jump" because you probably already know it, because you're "cooler" than "me".
** - I always worry about the proper presentation of the abbreviated "disc jockey". The deejays in question were Gustavo Motta and Rich King and the party was Snaxx, which is back as of last weekend.
